Distribution Center

The main way Midlands Orphan Relief helps local at-risk youth and children in foster care is through our distribution center. This is where we sort, store, pack and distribute all donations from the community for the children we are serving. We provide each referred child a child-specific “Care Kit” filled with two weeks’ worth of clothing, shoes, new socks, underwear, pajamas, and toiletries as well as school supplies, stuffed animals, and books.

MOR and LOR partner with over 300 agencies and organizations who work together to provide helpful resources for children at critical times in their lives. We receive referrals from The Department of Social Services, Title 1 schools, counselors, social workers, hospitals, other non-profits, foster parents, and churches. MOR does not take referrals from biological parents.

MOR and LOR served over 5,500 children in 2021, and over 42,000 children since 2003!

Just In Case Closets

MOR creates emergency clothing closets in Title 1 public schools in Richmond, Lexington and?? counties as a school resource for children who attend school without the basic necessities of school life. The closets include underwear, socks, uniforms and toiletries, which helps to generate a feeling of self worth and helps a child focus on his or her self-esteem.

MOR is currently in 15 Title 1 schools in the Columbia area and is continuing to expand its reach. Our goal is to add a new school and closet to our list each month!
